Getting Started with Crochet

Starting with a slip knot, and a basic chain foundation, you can then learn the single, and double crochet stitches. From there you might learn the treble (triple) crochet stitches, and the half-double and slip stitches. Although there is plenty more to learn and explore, these are the most commonly employed stitches in crochet, and a great place to start!

Holding the Hook

See the two common styles of holding the hook. Left handed crocheters will typically reverse hands. To see this, you can hold a mirror up to your computer, and watch all of the videos in the mirror!

Forming Elementary Stitches
